Clement Lamp
The Clement Lamp
is an interpretation of an original lamp designed by master Art
Deco furniture designer Clement Rousseau in 1923. Its clean styling
makes it appropriate for a Modern, Art Deco, or Arts & Crafts
style setting.
It is hand made
from solid Macassar ebony with inlays of genuine shagreen (stingray
skin) from the South Pacific. Shagreen was a preferred material
during the French Art Deco movement, used extensively by designers
such as Ruhlmann and Rousseau.
This piece makes
use of bold vertical lines of satin polished ebony juxtaposed
against the coarse pebbly surface of the shagreen. The unique
combination of materials distinguish this piece from mass produced
lighting alternatives.
The base measures
5 3/4" square and is about 24" tall to the top of the
finial. Embellished with nickel ball feet and nickel details.
Three way light fixture.
Signed.
